Rentals at the 1895 Historic Fire Hall
Located at 504 Main Street, Tower | UNDER CONSTRUCTION! The Historic Fire Hall building is currently being historically restored. Follow our progress on Facebook
The Historic Tower Fire Hall is in heart of the community, located in the center of downtown on Main Street. The all-brick building is iconic and unforgettable– an architectural focal point in the heart of Tower. The building is a perfect place for staging large events, receptions, recitals, lectures, large meetings, pop-up and other dining events, and hosting special occasions.
Constructed in 1895, the Historic Fire Hall is the very first municipal building on the Iron Range. It was originally built to house an 1891 horse-drawn steam-powered fire engine used to fight fires in the area. A 30,000 gallon hand dug cistern in the basement of the Fire Hall contained a ready supply of water to suppress fires. The City of Tower was incorporated in 1889 and the building served as the city’s municipal offices housing the Mayor’s Office, City Hall, and the Police Station and City Jail. The jail cells remain, as do many of the various civic office features.
The Historic Fire Hall is listed in the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in the theme of social history.
